FANS of Don McLean will be disappointed to hear that his concert, due to take place in Mullingar tonight, has been cancelled on medical grounds.

The American singer-songwriter has been advised to rest for a couple of days before continuing his current Irish tour, which means that the concert, scheduled to take place in the Mullingar Park Hotel tonight, has been cancelled.

McLean, who is best known for his 1971 song 'American Pie', has followed medical advice in cancelling the show.
