English and Corroon named in Westmeath team to face Louth

The Westmeath team to face Louth in this Sunday's Allianz Football League Division 3 opener in Drogheda has an unfamiliar look about it. Darren Quinn (Tyrrellspass) has been selected in goal, and he will have a full-back line of John Gaffey (Garrycastle), Robbie English (Tang) and Kevin Maguire (Caulry) in front of him. English and Maguire will be making their National League debuts, though Maguire did start in last year's Leinster championship semi-final against Sunday's opponents Louth. Established defenders Francis Boyle and Kieran Gavin will be joined in the half-back line by Killucan's Conor Jordan, who started Westmeath's final match of the disastrous 2010 league campaign, in which they lost all seven matches. Midfield has been a problem area for Westmeath in recent times and even more so at the moment with David Duffy still on the injured list. Westmeath hurling star Brendan Murtagh and Denis Corroon will form the midfield partnership on Sunday. Corroon was a member of last year's Westmeath under-21 team which reached the Leinster final. In attack, Westmeath will be looking to Denis Glennon, Dessie Dolan and Paul Greville for scoring inspiration, and they are joined by the hard-working Ger Egan, Conor Lynam of St Loman's and the recalled David Glennon. Sunday's game in Drogheda is listed to throw-in at 2.30pm. Westmeath SF v Louth: D Quinn; J Gaffey, R English, K Maguire; F Boyle, K Gavin, C Jordan; B Murtagh, D Corroon; C Lynam, Denis Glennon, G Egan; P Greville, David Glennon, D Dolan.
