TEMPLE Villa AFC is currently preparing to host a bumper celebration to mark its 40th anniversary this weekend.

The Mount Temple/Baylin soccer club will stage a 'Fun Day Out’ for all the family this Saturday, August 24, with a Kennedy Cup invitational match starting at their Villa Park grounds at 2pm. This will be followed by a 'Temple Villa Legends Match’ at 3.30pm.

The club is inviting all former/current players, managers, committee members and friends to celebrate the 40th anniversary.

FAI President Paddy McCaul, local football legend Pauric Nicholson and Paul Osam (Football Development Officer for Westmeath), among other special guests, will be in attendance.

The club will be honouring its founder members and the new name of the club grounds will also be revealed.

For the children, there will be skills games, penalty shoot-outs, 5 a-side tournaments and much more.

On Saturday night, the club will also host a 'night-out’ for all current and past club members and friends of the club in Egan’s pub, Mount Temple from 8.30pm. On the night, there will be entertainment from Streetwise, a barbecue and much more including a host of spot prizes.

The admission price for the night will be €10 and anyone interested in taking part in any of the 40th anniversary celebrations can contact the club at TempleVilla@gmail.com.

It's set to be a hugely memorable weekend for the progressive Mount Temple-based club, and everyone associated with the club, past or present, is welcome to join in the celebrations.
