Athlone Town will begin life in the 2014 Airtricity League Premier Division with an away clash against Sligo Rovers on March 8.

After that opener against the 2012 champions, Athlone will host Irish football’s most successful club, Shamrock Rovers.

Athlone will take on Derry City - now under the stewardship of former Athlone manager Roddy Collins - in the Brandywell on April 11.

The Town’s first game against reigning champions St Patrick’s Athletic will be in Richmond Park on April 25. St Pat’s are also managed by a former Athlone Town boss in the form of Liam Buckley.
