Injured Heslin to miss the rest of Westmeath's league campaign

JOHN Heslin will be missing for Westmeath when they tackle Kerry in their penultimate Allianz Football League Division 1 match on Sunday at Cusack Park, Mullingar (3pm).

Westmeath need to beat Kerry and then Kildare in their final match of the campaign to stand any chance of surviving in Division 1. However, survival at this level seems highly unlikely for Paul Bealin’s side after they lost their first five matches.

Heslin was a stand-out performer for Westmeath when they almost beat Kerry in the Championship a couple of years ago, and will be sorely missed by Westmeath.

Heslin, of St Loman’s, missed last weekend’s defeat to Tyrone due to a groin injury and manager Bealin said that Heslin could be out of action for four to five weeks.
