Stack and daly in roscommon team for sligo clash

Ronan Stack and Conor Daly have been drafted into the Roscommon team for the Connacht SFC semi-final against Sligo in Markievicz Park on Saturday evening.

Stack (St Brigid’s) and Daly of Padraig Pearses replace Donal Ward and Donie Shine from the team which defeated London in the quarter-final. Otherwise, the team is unchanged from the victory in Ruislip.

Ward recently sustained an injury in an incident at Cloverhill Prison, where he works as a Prison Officer, but Roscommon manager John Evans has claimed that he would be available for the Sligo game (see this week’s Westmeath Independent for more).

At the time of writing, the Sligo team had yet to be named. The Yeats County has suffered a blow with the news that defender Johnny Martyn has been ruled out, having ruptured ankle ligaments when playing a club game.

Sligo are already without former All-Star defender Charlie Harrison due to a cruciate ligament injury.

In addition, attacker Stephen Coen has been dropped from the Sligo panel, with media reports claiming this is because of a disciplinary breach.

The Sligo v Roscommon match will be televised live on Sky Sports (throw-in: 7pm), with the channel also showing the Leinster SHC semi-final beforehand between Galway and Laois (5pm).
