Athlone aiming to leave visitors with the Blues

Athlone Town will be aiming to continue their recent impressive run when they entertain Waterford United in Athlone Town Stadium tonight (Friday) at 7.45pm.

The home side are unbeaten in four - but will have to overcome another set of statistics if they are to take all three points, as they have not won a game against the side from the South East in 11 years!

Waterford, in contrast to Athlone's recent run, are on a bad run, and parted company with manager Paul O'Brien last weekend.

Since then, however, the Blues were extremely unfortunate to lose on a penalty shoot out to Premier Division Limerick in Thomond Park in the EA Sports Cup midweek.

Earlier this season when the sides met in the RSC it was a 78th minute goal from former Athlone Town player David Breen that defeated 10-man Athlone Town after Roddy jnr was sent to the line in the 16th minute.

Barring any late injuries Roddy Collins can look forward to picking his strongest team as he heads into this game with no injury or suspension concerns.

Kick off in Athlone Town Stadium is scheduled for 7.45pm
