Hanevy"s super strike gives St Coman"s away victory over Villa

A wonder-strike from Niall Hanevy with two minutes to go proved to be the difference between these two fine teams at Villa Park on Saturday morning last. Hanevy grabbed both goals for St Coman"s in what was a fantastic game with both teams attacking at every opportunity. The game started at a frantic pace, a pace that was kept up for the entire game. After five minutes of sustained pressure, St. Coman"s took the lead. Hanevy picked up the ball just outside the Villa penalty area before beating two men and poking the ball home to the bottom corner, giving goalkeeper Jordan Nugent no chance. It looked as though Coman"s were the stronger team but instead their goal proved to be a wake-up call for Temple Villa. Minutes later, with their first attack, Aaron Nugent almost found himself with a simple chance of a tap-in when Coman"s keeper Leon Harney missed the ball with an attempted clearance. And on 9 minutes, Sean Farrell saw his header cleared off the line as Villa heaped pressure on the Coman"s goal. But back came Coman"s once again with a shot from Daniel Heavin that just missed the target. Aaron Coleman had a similar opportunity but he saw his weak effort saved by Jordan Nugent. The remainder of the first period of play saw another onslaught of Villa pressure with Harry Cornally"s effort from distance the pick of the action. The second period began with Villa almost equalising. Kevin Stone attempted to chip the ball over Coman"s "keeper Leon Harney. But Harney got back just in time to pull off a magnificent fingertip save to deny Stone. Daniel Heavin was denied once again by Jordan Nugent while, down the other end, Sean Horan was played clean through on goal but saw his angle closed down quickly by Leon Harney. Both "keepers were proving very difficult to beat. Minutes before the end of the period, Coman"s should have extended their lead. Frank Harney"s initial shot was parried brilliantly by Nugent and when the ball fell to Kieran Hanevy he looked odds-on to score, but amazingly Nugent blocked his effort too, pulling off a magnificent double-save. Those misses were to prove costly as, with the very next attack, Villa managed to equalise. And it was a similar goal to Hanevy"s goal for Coman"s. Harry Cornally picked the ball up on the left wing, cut inside and placed the ball through a jungle of bodies to the corner of the net. It was a deserved equaliser for Villa. In the fifth minute of the third period, Sean Farrell was sent clean through on goal for Villa. His placed effort beat Leon Harney but came back of the inside of the post and into the grateful arms of Harney. Villa were turning up the pressure once again and Harney had to be at his best again three minutes later to keep out an Ian McCormack effort. With time quickly running out, it looked as though both sides would have to settle for a point. But then came a bolt from the blue. The ball broke to Niall Hanevy 25 yards from goal and without hesitation he rifled an unstoppable shot to the top corner of the Villa net to set up the victory for St. Coman"s.
