Former Ryder Cup star gives guidance

Former Ryder Cup vice-captain Anders Forsbrand was the head instructor for a junior golf camp at Glasson Golf Hotel & Country Club. Young golfers from the Midlands had a unique opportunity to receive top quality coaching from Anders and his team. In 2004, Anders was the vice-captain on Europe"s winning Ryder Cup team, which was captained by Bernard Langer. Today, Anders trains the Austrian Golf Federation team players and is a frequent commentator for European Tour events on television. 'It is exciting to revisit Ireland and lead this camp,' Anders said. 'Golf has taught me a lot and I want to pass on what I have learnt to a new generation.' The "Get Focused" Junior Golf Camp (April 6-9) was organised as a partnership between the charity OM Ireland, FCA (the Fellowship of Christian Athletes) and Glasson Golf Hotel & Country Club. It was open to young golfers (12 - 18 years old) from local clubs. Each day, participants focus on life lessons which explore the values of integrity, excellence, team work and serving. Coaches will share from their own personal experience as golfers and use principles from the bible. 'OM Ireland is excited about organising this golf camp because we believe that young people not only need to be taught these values, they also need to see role models,' explained OM Ireland Director Mike Mullins. OM Ireland will also be hosting Anders and his team at Lacken House, Rahara, Co Roscommon. In addition to the golf camp, Anders Forsbrand ran open golf clinics at Moate Golf Club (last Monday) and at Roscommon Golf Club yesterday (Tuesday,) as well as visiting Athlone Driving Range.
