Put your questions to the election candidates

The Westmeath Independent is inviting questions from the public, which will be put to your local election candidates ahead of the election on June 5. The questions can be submitted via our website at www.westmeathindependent.ie/elections. The web page will go live tomorrow morning (Thursday) and you will have one week to submit your questions before they are put to the candidates ahead of polling day. The Westmeath Independent will choose a selection of the questions submitted on the website and groups and voluntary organisations are particularly urged to submit questions for the candidates. The candidates have been finalised this week with 17 on the Town Council ticket, eleven contesting the election in the Athlone Area of Westmeath County Council and ten names appearing on the ballot paper in South Roscommon. A selection of the questions will be put to the candidates in the relevant electoral areas so if you feel there are any burning issues in your area or questions you want answered by your potential local representatives ahead of polling day make sure you log onto www.westmeathindependent.ie/elections from tomorrow until next Thursday and submit your question. The closing date for receipt to questions is Thursday, May 28, and the answers given by the candidates will be published in the Westmeath Independent on Wednesday, June 3, ahead of polling day.
