Allen condemns illegal dumping in Moydrum bog

Recent illegal dumping in Canada bog near Moydrum has been condemned this week by Fianna Fáil councillor Tom Allen as 'vandalism of the highest order'. A trailer load of rubbish including a washing machine, dishwasher, tyres and general refuse was dropped in the bog last Wednesday or Thursday, an incident that has angered local people and landowners. 'These people who illegally dump have no respect for the environment or property. I am calling on local people to be alert and watch out for people travelling in that area with a trailer full of stuff. It"s very unfair, it"s private property. They are responsible for cleaning this up now even though it was dumped there by somebody else,' Cllr Allen said this week. He added he fears with the imminent closure of Ballydonagh next year that this kind of illegal dumping will only rise, a situation no one wants to see. 'If anyone is aware of any illegal dumping taking place or notices any unusual cars in the area, I am calling on them to contact the gardai and hopefully the perpretrators will be caught,' he concluded.
