Local girl stars in short film at Galway Film Fleadh

Local girl Eirinn Dully recently starred in a ten-minute short film 'Losing Memories' and, along with her family, was delighted to see the premier of the film at the recent Galway Film Fleadh. The talented seven-year-old actress is the daughter of Jacqueline Lawlor Dully and Dessie Dully and was involved in the filming of the short movie last March. From Clonbonny, Eirinn is no stranger to the stage, as she has participated in Clonbonny NS Christmas plays at the Dean Crowe Theatre over the last number of years and is also a member of Centre Stage drama school. She also has a love of ballet and has taken part in performances with her ballet group. But while Eirinn has taken to the stage in the past this was the first time she was involved in a film project and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Those involved with the project said Eirinn was a natural and they expect this is not the last we will be seeing of her. Eirinn is the second oldest in the family with older sister Clíona, brother Rian and sister Aoibh. She is the granddaughter of Hughie and the late Bernadette Lawlor. While she has many other interests such as swimming and horse riding, Eirinn's great love is acting and she has cousins in New York who work as actors. There was a further family connection as Eirinn's cousin, Orlagh Heverin was writer/director on the project. Orlagh is a native of Castlebar, but has strong Athlone connections with her mother's family coming from Athlone. She is granddaughter of Toni Dully, who is also Eirinn's grandmother. Beechpark West, and daughter of Joy Dully. Orlagh, along with producer Paddy O'Connor of Galway, were delighted to receive an RTÉ/Galway Film Centre Short Script Award for their short script Losing Memories. The script is based on an elderly lady who is losing her memories, this mood piece shows her life through her eyes, her past and present merge into each other. She slips into being the young girl she once was and people and memories from her past surround her. The script is based on the memory of Orlagh's grandmother Rhona Heverin and was shot in Rhona's house in Castlebar. Orlagh hopes it is a fitting tribute to her grandmother's memory. The film will be shown on RTÉ next year and has been entered to film festivals worldwide.
