Buccaneers gear up to host Midlands Sevens tournament

BUCCANEERS RFC is holding the inaugural 'Midlands Sevens' rugby tournament at Dubarry Park, Athlone, on this coming Saturday, August 15th. The tournament will have a minimum of 8 teams, primarily from Connacht and the Midlands, but indeed teams outside this catchment area will be most welcome to participate as it should provide a useful opportunity for clubs of both Senior and Junior status to pit their wits against one another, whilst also finding out their true fitness and team spirit levels just before the real season kicks off. Squads can consist of 12 players and further information can be obtained from Alex Hayman or the club's administrator Geraldine at 086-1732711 or on www.buccaneersrfc.com GOLF CLASSIC NEXT TUESDAY BUCCANEERS' Annual Golf Classic takes place at Glasson Golf & Country Club on Tuesday next, August 18th. Entries from teams of four are invited and Hugh Conlon is chief organiser of this long-standing event. Early booking is, of course, advised for preferential tee off times. Entry fee is very attractive at only €240 per team this year. Hole and Tee sponsors are welcome. Full details and bookings can be made via club administrator Geraldine at 086-1732711.
