Eight Athlone people to skydive for charity

Eight Athlone people are to skydive for charity on August 23, with the final round of fundraisers taking place over the next week. In total over 30 people will take to the skies in Clonbollogue on Offaly on Sunday week in a bid to raise much needed funds for the Midlands' arm of Acquired Brain Injury Ireland (ABI Ireland). Rehabilitation Assistant with ABI Ireland Geraldine Kiveney, her husband Eoin Kiveney, Dermot McManus, all from Coosan, Seamus Flanagan from Cornamaddy, Liam Burke from Oakdale and Harmon Hannon, Kerri McEntegart and Rosie Sweeney of Colour Starz Hairdressers will take part in the charity sky dive. Harmon, Kerri and Rosie have organised a Texas Holdem night in Dan's Tavern on Wednesday night of next week, August 19, to raise money for the dive and the prize fund up for grabs on the night is €3,000. The group will also be holding a bag pack at Tesco in Golden Island Shopping Centre on Saturday, August 22, in a last minute bid to raise funds for ABI> The skydive will take place in Clonbollogue on Sunday, August 23, and all monies raised will go to Acquired Brain Injury Ireland (ABI Ireland) services in the Midlands. ABI Ireland provides support and services for people with acquired brain injury throughout Ireland. Geraldine Kiveney, who is based in ABI Ireland Community Rehabilitation Service in Tullamore, is co-ordinating the group of sky divers which consists of people that are involved with and support clients of ABI Ireland. Barbara O'Connell, CEO of Acquired Brain Injury Ireland said: "I would like to thank everyone for their efforts in organising this skydive and raising money for people with acquired brain injury in Ireland. Approximately 10,000 people in Ireland are affected by acquired brain injury each year and our services provide valuable Community Rehabilitation Outreach in the Midlands and in several locations around the country.
