Steady stream examine seized Ballinasloe tools
Ballinasloe Gardai have said there has been a "stready stream" of people in to examine over €10,000 worth of tools seized over a fortnight ago and some has been returned to their owners. However, there is still a quantity of the recovered tools at the station, mainly related to the construction industry, which are believed to have been stolen in the West of Ireland over the last few months and officers are still endeavouring to locate owners for the property. Among the items recovered were chain saws, angle grinders, power washers, boxes of tools, floodlights, electric drills, an assortment of electric saws, and other items. A spokesperson for the Gardai said there is still a facility for the public to come and view the tools seized some weeks ago, if they feel tools and equipment may belong to them. The quantity of tools was seized by Ballinasloe Gardai over two weeks now, on foot of searches in Ballinasloe and Loughrea during an investigation of the theft of a 4x4 vehicle in the Dublin area last March. Two men were arrested in Caltra and later released in relation to the incident. A file is being sent to the DPP in relation to the issue.
