Parents Association Family Day St. Clare's Parents' Association, Tubberclair held their annual Family Day on October 4 last. Once again, the sun shone and everyone headed to the Boy Scouts grounds at Portlick. The day was well supported and both young and old had great fun! Firstly, the Parents Association would like to express our thanks to John Butler and St Mary's Boy Scouts for providing an excellent venue with catering facilities and play equipment, allowing us to provide refreshments and games for everybody. The group very much appreciate the time and effort that John afforded us on the day, not to mention his patience. The association are also very grateful to the following people and groups - John Elliott and his family for setting up a wood-turning stand, Andrew Kennedy and family for organising pony rides on the day, the Order of Malta who kept a watchful eye on the activities and concluded the day with an emergency demonstration and Portlick Archery Club for organising archery activities for the families. Also, thanks to Athlone Fire Brigade for giving children rides in fire engine with sirens blaring on the day concluding with an emergency demonstration. The association also want to extend thanks to the parents who gave their time and energy to make it all happen and who helped in the clean-up afterwards. And most of all, thank you to the families for supporting us on our annual Family Day and we look forward to organising another fun-filled day next year!
