St Brigid's and Garrycastle advance in championship
The reigning kingpins of senior club football in Westmeath and Roscommon - Garrycastle and St Brigid's - both advanced to the next stage of their respective county championships last weekend. Garrycastle booked a place in the Westmeath county final by defeating Maryland on a score of 4-10 to 0-12. They will have to wait to find out who their opponents in the final will be, as the other semi-final between Mullingar Shamrocks and St Loman's finished in a draw. In Roscommon, St Brigid's advanced to the senior semi final, defeating Western Gaels on a score of 2-12 to 13 points. They will now face Elphin, who comprehensively defeated in Clann na nGael in their quarter final. A reply this Sunday will decide whether Padraig Pearse's or Castlerea will advance to the semi final stage, after their encounter finished level. Meanwhile, in the Westmeath intermediate championship Caulry got the better of Tubberclair and Rosemount were narrowly defeated by Castletown-Finea-Coole-Whitehall. * SEE TOMORROW'S EDITION OF THE WESTMEATH INDEPENDENT FOR MATCH REPORTS AND FULL COVERAGE OF THE WESTMEATH AND ROSCOMMON CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS. .
