'Be Green' roadshow in Athlone today

A free event designed to introduce businesses to the concept of reducing their costs through good environmental awareness is taking place in Athlone today (Tuesday). The 'Be Green' national roadshow, organised by Green Business.ie visits the Hodson Bay Hotel today (from 12 noon to 8pm) and attendance is free. The event is supported by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Small Firms Association. It creates an opportunity for businesses to meet the leading state support organisations with representatives from GreenBusiness.ie, Bord Bia Origin Green, Repak - Prevent and Save, Green Hospitality Programme, Sustainable Authority of Ireland(SEAI), Local Authority Prevention Network ( LAPN), Allupro and Smile Resource Exchange in attendance at each event. These agencies will present and give advice to businesses on how they can cut costs through better resource efficiency - particularly targeting energy, waste and water costs. They will also advise on free services available to businesses that will help them implement these cost savings. Maurice Bergin, Green Hospitality Programme, said, "This is a great opportunity for SME's who are trying to cut back on costs to meet with government agencies and get advice on how to do this. We received great feedback from our spring roadshow with many companies beginning to see their costs reducing already." Mr Bergin continued, "Attendance is free and we would urge any business that is concerned about the rising cost of energy, water, waste or raw materials to attend and find out how they can take some simple steps to reduce the burden these place on businesses."
