Autumn Owls for Passionfruit gig

Fresh from their music showcase at CMJ in New York, Autumn Owls are stopping off in Athlone for a gig this Saturday in Passionfruit Theatre. The Dublin three-piece is made up Gary McFarlane on guitar and vocals, Adam Browne on bass and Will Purtill on drums, who will be making a stop in the Midlands after a performance in Galway's Roisin Dubh the night before. 2010 saw the band tour in Italy, Norway, the UK, Canada and the US, taking part in festivals such as SXSW in the States as well as Canada's NXNE and CMW. When searching for an expression of the band's sound, it is a mix of The National and Villagers. Autumn Owls recorded their debut full-length album 'Between Buildings, Toward The Sea' in April 2012 with Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, Iron and Wine) in Chicago. Support on the night will be from one of Athlone's finest folk artists, Eddie Keenan from The Driftwood Manor. Doors open at 8.30pm this Saturday November 10th. Admission is €10 or €15 with a copy of the new album. Autumn Owls will also be performing a brief in-store acoustic gig at 4pm on Saturday in the newly opened Wingnut Records store, located within the Passionfruit Theatre foyer.
