Athlone and Maryland-Tang reach U21 county final

ATHLONE and Maryland-Tang will contest this year's Westmeath U21 Football Final, after both clubs secured places in the decider last weekend. The Town side were 2-4 to 0-7 winners against Coralstown-Kinnegad last Saturday night, with Ray Connellan and Shane Kilroy-Glynn netting the important goals. Maryland-Tang, meanwhile, easily disposed of Caulry at Mount Temple, with goals coming from Enda Kincaid, and the Rock brothers, John and Martin. Confirmation of the date of the final has not yet been received, but it's expected to take place the weekend after next. Meanwhile, the Westmeath U21 Football Championship (13 A-Side) final between Castledaly and Tyrellspass, was postponed last weekend, and has been rescheduled to take place this coming Friday at Lakepoint Park, Mullingar, at 7pm. *See this week's Westmeath Independent for reports of both last weekend's U21 FC semi-finals.
