Rohan in running for RTE Sports Person of Year Award

Double gold Paralympian hero Mark Rohan is in the running for the prestigious RTÉ Sports Person of the Year Award. The Ballinahown handcyclist is among a veritable whos who of Irish sport nominated for the gong, including world number one golfer Rory McIlroy, All-Ireland football winner Karl Lacey, Heineken Cup winner Rob Kearney and Olympic boxing hero Katie Taylor. Others selected are Kilkenny hurling legend Henry Shefflin, double gold Paralympian athletes Jason Smyth and Michael McKillop, Epsom Derby winning jockey Joseph O'Brien and double European Cross Country Champion Fionnuala Britton. Presented by Darragh Maloney, the show will review what was a momentous year for Irish athletes and teams, and look back on the dramatic and memorable sporting moments of 2012. The show will be broadcast live on RTÉ One, Sunday, December 23 at 9.30pm.
