Athlone band TV After Midnight have released its debut album.

Athlone band releases highly-rated debut album

Popular local band TV After Midnight released their first album, Arrivals, last Sunday. The four-piece band, made up of Conan Grehan (Drums),Tadhg Kelleher (Guitar, Vocals), Colm Noonan (Bass, Vocals), Brian Carr (Guitar, Vocals) from Athlone have been together since Spring 2010 when they formed for a Battle of the Bands competition. They started as a cover band playing the local scene in venues including The Snug, The Castle Inn and Sean's Bar before using their writing talents to create their own original music. Three of the four band members are songwriters creating an eclectic mix of songs. Lead singer Colm Noonan explains that due to the diversity in songwriting techniques no two songs on the album are the same. They all have different influences and songs are written both individually and collectively. Work on the album began two years ago when they decided to record an LP at Lakelands studio. An initial four tracks ended up becoming 14 and the LP became an album. The band spent a lot of time in the studio. The ten best tracks were selected and they concentrated on them, spending another six more months working on them for the final album. Two instrumental pieces were also added to the album. The band hopes to have an official launch night for Arrivals in the new year. TV After Midnight released Words, their debut single last October and entered the top ten of the itunes alternative chart alongside artists such as Monsters and Men and Little Green Cars. The band enjoyed a promising 2012 playing the Helium festival and most recently playing with Ham Sandwhich in Richard Grace's pub. Their album, Arrivals, has been highlighted in the music website, Music Unsigned, as an excellent, exciting Irish rock album and was given a five star rating. Arrivals is now available for download on iTunes and several other sites, including spotify, emusic and amazon mp3. Hard copies will be available from Wingnut Records at the Passionfruit Theatre.
