Boost for Athlone with second major triathlon event planned

Athlone is set to host a second major triathlon event next summer. Shadowman will be held in the town over the August Bank Holiday weekend on August 4, hot on the heels of the annual Triathlone competition in the town, the country's biggest triathlon competition on July 6. The same organising committee will host Shadowman, which will include an Ironman 70.3 and a full Ironman as part of the European Town of Sport for 2013. Organisers are expecting around 1,200 people to take part in this gruelling competition, with the cycle and run in and around, Athlone town, and the swim taking place at Coosan Point and Lough Ree.
