Rossies set to host Farney men in the Hyde

Roscommon's Allianz FL Division 3 clash against Monaghan on Sunday will throw in at the later time of 3.30pm – due to a motor rally taking place in Roscommon town.

Roscommon manager John Evans was pleased with his side's 0-11 to 1-6 victory over Antrim at Casement Park last weekend.

“Without the St Brigid's players plus Donal and Cathal Shine, the others worked very hard in training,” Evans was quoted as saying in the Irish Daily Star.

“This is a big win for us, away from home. We have a tough game coming up against Monaghan. This, however, is a great win for us.”

Roscommon dominated the first half against Antrim, holding their opponents to a solitary score and leading by 0-7 to 0-1 at half-time.

Cathal Cregg and Colin Compton scored three points apiece as Roscommon bounced back from their defeat to Meath in the previous round.

A late goal proved little more than consolation for the Saffrons.

Monaghan are currently top of the Division 3 table on eight points but after last weekend's win, Roscommon are now on five points and are back in the promotion shake-up.

A victory on Sunday would be a huge boost for the Rossies, yet it won't be easily achieved against a Monaghan team which has won four out of five games thus far.
