Rosemount Drama Group to commence local run

Rosemount Amateur Drama Society are starting their run of performances of the John B Keane play, The Man From Clare, today Wednesday April 3 at Tuar Ard in Moate.
The play is a touching portrait of an ageing football star, Padraic, who is past his sporting prime. His progress toward a new stage of life pits him against his self-centred coach, Daigan, and a talented upstart player, Jim Flynn. Football has left no room for women in Padraic’s life, but a sudden opportunity to change that arrives in the form of a shy housekeeper called Nellie.
Amid rueful reflections, romance, brawls, song and beer, the play proves to be a charming portrait of the sacrifices made on the way to fulfilment. It is sure to resonate with anyone who has ever had a dream that they had to let go of.
It is produced by Jackie Madden this year’s cast includes some familiar faces and some new ones and they will be performing in Tuar Ard for five nights from Wednesday April 3 to Sunday 7 at 8.30pm – tickets at 090 6482042.
