St Francis Terrace reunion planned

The organisers of The Gathering may have drawn some inspiration for the whole idea from the residents of St Francis Terrace and surrounding areas, who organised a reunion five years ago that saw almost 200 people gather to share their memories, with many travelling from the UK and US for the event.
Now the residents are planning to host a second reunion, this time on Sunday, June 2, in the Radisson Hotel, Athlone, and are hoping as many residents, past and present, will join them for an evening of good food, good company and of course a dance!
The organisers of the event are hoping that people from all over the country, and indeed further afield, who lived in St Francis Terrace, Railway View, Lucas Court, St Brigid’s Terrace, Leinster Terrace, Northgate Street and Southern Station Road, or anyone with any connections to these areas, will join them on the night.
Lifelong friendships were forged among the many people who grew up in the area, something which is clearly evident from the banter shared among the members of the organising committee. They explained this week that while the reunion is taking place during the year of The Gathering, their own gathering has nothing to do with the tourism initiative and is simply a way for old friends and neighbours to meet. They say that the feedback was so positive after the last event that those in attendance, and many who were unable to attend at the time, implored them to organise another event.
They explained that the last event was a brilliant night with plenty of chat, laughter, song and dance and they expect this reunion to be just as good. Music on the night will be by Brian Sullivan.
The reunion will take place in the Radisson Hotel, Athlone, on Sunday, June 2, with people invited to get together from 8pm, with a buffet meal served at 9pm. Tickets will be available on the door but advance booking is necessary and those wishing to attend are asked to contact Ann on 087 2965031 or Pauline on 090 6472563. Tickets are priced at €20, which is to cover the cost of the night.
The organisers are also looking for any old photographs or memorabilia to display on the night and these can be dropped to any committee member or you can contact Ann or Pauline on the above numbers.
