Information day on innovative business programme for jobseekers

An information day for jobseekers will be held tomorrow, May 8, at the Prince of Wales Hotel from 10 am to 1pm. The information talk hosted by the Irish Centre for Business Excellence in conjunction with City and Guilds will inform jobseekers of the innovative Business Process Improvement programme which offers a fresh start to graduates who have been unemployed for 12 months or more.

The Business Process Improvement programme aims to create genuine job opportunities by helping participants refocus their talents and revitalise their skills through formal training and one to one mentoring. The programmes will suit those looking for job opportunities in areas of business support. Participants will also be provided with the training and contacts needed to secure employment.

The programme is full time over 20 weeks and is followed by 16 weeks directed work placement. Qualifications will be certified by both the City and Guilds and the Institute of Leadership and Management. The programme is funded by the government under the Momentum skills programme which is investing €20 million in 2013 to provide free education and training places for up to 6,500 people.

The Business Process Improvement programme begins in Athlone on May 20 and is open to those who have been in receipt of jobseekers allowance or benefit for at least 12 months. Those interested should come along to the information session where local employment service officers can confirm their eligibility. Local businesses are also being asked to offer placements to participants from June 24 onwards for a 16 week period.
