Athlone filling station sells €200,000 Euromillions ticket

A lucky couple from Westmeath has collected a cool €200,000 in the EuroMillions lottery draw after purchasing a winning ticket in Athlone.
The pair, who bought the €6 ticket in Applegreen Filling Station in Arcadia Business Park, matched five numbers plus one Lucky Star in the EuroMillions draw on Friday 17 May last, to take home a total of €203,261.
They were just one Lucky Star away from claiming the massive €63 million jackpot on that date but the duo are more than happy with their new fortune.
“I wouldn’t win an argument,” said the happy husband at National Lottery headquarters in Dublin today. “So I’m delighted to be taking home a cheque for over €200,000. It’s like a fairytale! I can’t explain just how much this means to us and our family,” he added.
The couple, who are regular EuroMillions players, want to remain anonymous. They plan to take some time out before making any decisions on how to spend the windfall.
