Singer Mike Denver, one of the many attractions at the Brideswell Pattern Festival, kicking off this Friday.

One hell of a weekend promised in Brideswell...

Chairperson of Brideswell Pattern Festival, Tomás Beades, explained that 2013 will be a highlight for not only those who live in the small picturesque village of Brideswell in the heart of South Roscommon but for the thousands that will attend the various events organised over the last weekend in July.
“This festival has brought an amazing community spirit to the village and surrounding areas and that is evident by the amount of work completed on the village over the past few weeks. We are overwhelmed with the interest from overseas in this year’s festival and we anticipate a massive response from the local community in the coming weeks to put on a show that South Roscommon can be proud of,” said Tomas.
“We have many events taking place over the weekend and we literally have something for everyone. We are particularly proud and delighted to have Brendan Shine and Gerry O’Malley (Two of Roscommon’s most famous links) as part of our festival this year and they will no doubt draw a huge crowd.
“Brideswell Pattern Festival has continued to grow and flourish in recent years, thanks in no small way to the work of the people of the area and the support of festival goers. The fact that the festival has become such a success is a credit to the people of the area and it promises to be even bigger and better this year.
An extensive programme of fantastic events take place throughout the weekend with music including the Glenside Ceili Band, a traditional night as well as the hugely popular Mike Denver and his band along with Brendan Shine in a special ‘This is your life Show’ .
Other events include an opportunity to rediscover your roots, an old style village fair and of course the now infamous Down N’Dirty obstacle course – the ultimate fun run designed to push participants to their limits.
The chairman acknowledged the assistance of Roscommon LEADER Partnership in helping to put on such a festival in the current economic climate.
Tomás also acknowledged that without the help of all the Festival’s sponsors it would be impossible to continue with such exciting events and he particularly mentioned the support of the platinum sponsors received to date: Ballinasloe Mart, Hamrock’s of Brideswell, Oliver Kelly Enterprises Ltd, O’Connells Brideswell, O’Rourke Fireplaces, Tearmainn Bhride, Nursing Home and Supermacs as well as the gold sponsors: Barna Waste Roscommon Mart and Roscommon Mart.
