Jockey Rory Cleary and his family are looking ahead to a big day at the Galway Racing Festival.

Local family set for big day at the Races

IT’S a big day for the local Cleary family at the Galway Festival as two Tom Cleary-trained horses will be ridden by his son, Rory, on the fourth day of the Races.

The Carrick-o-brien family will be excited about the day’s events, with Rory riding Sophie’s Echo in the 3.40pm Guinness E.B.F Corrib Fillies Stakes (Listed) before boarding General Bunching in the IRFU Charitable Trust Handicap (50-70) at 5.35pm.

Both races will be shown live on RTE1. Yesterday (Wednesday), Rory was aboard Truly Delightful, trained by his father, in the 7.10pm Tote Return All Profits To Irish Racing Maiden and finished in fourth. Another of their horses, Sweet Annathea, finished in 13th place in the Tote Trifecta Rollover Handicap.
