Bealnamulla ladies bid for further success in great season

Bealnamulla's senior ladies team will contest the Galway Cup Final this Sunday against Colemanstown at Eamonn Deacy Park (formerly Terryland Park) at 6pm.

Colemanstown are the current Galway League Division 1 winners and will be looking to do the double, as are Bealnamulla after clinching the Galway League Premier Division recently.

Bealnamulla will go into the cup final on the back of good form having won their final two league games in the past week.

On Wednesday of last week, the South Roscommon side entertained Shiven Rovers and Bealnamulla got off to a strong start when opening the scoring through a Rachel Emerson header.

Bealnamulla had all the possession and really punished the Shiven side putting another two beyond the visiting 'keeper before half-time (both close range efforts from Emma Treanor).

The second half was much like the first and Bealnamulla worked on keeping possession but rounded off the game with a goal from Kayleigh Dunning.

Last Sunday's encounter was away to Kinvara and Bealnamulla again got off to a strong start with plenty of shots on the Kinvara 'keeper. Again, Rachel Emerson opened the scoring with a tap-in from an uncleared shot by Treanor. Kinvara answered back and then took the lead, leaving the Athlone side somewhat shell-shocked.

Although they would receive the Premier League trophy after the match, Bealnamulla were desperate to finish the league unbeaten. They got the equaliser just before half-time through Kayleigh Dunning and netted another four goals after the break.

Emerson was again on the scoresheet before substitute Maz Sweeney got two great goals. The last goal came from Kayleigh Dunning.

It was another great victory for the Bealnamulla team who now face Colemanstown in the Galway Cup Final in Terryland on Sunday at 6pm.
