Roscommon v Tyrone minor clash the opening act in Croker sell-out

ROSCOMMON minors are set to be part of a Croke Park sell-out this coming Sunday when they face Tyrone in the Electric Ireland All-Ireland MFC semi-final at headquarters (1.30pm).

The minor match will be followed by the eagerly awaited All-Ireland SFC semi-final between Dublin and Kerry, with the GAA confirming on Friday that the double-bill is now sold out and that no tickets will be in general sale on the day. Both matches will also be screened live on RTE 2.

The GAA and an Garda Síochána have also informed patrons attending Sunday’s semi-finals that Jones Road will only be open to patrons holding tickets for the Premium Level, Hogan Stand and the Nally Terrace. This means that the Hogan Stand entrance or the Croke Park Hotel cannot be used as a meeting point for ticket exchange and collection by patrons holding tickets for other areas of the stadium.

Supporters are also advised to arrive one hour before the senior semi-final (minor-throw in 1.30; senior throw-in 3.30) to ensure that the expected capacity attendance is in-situ before the start of the second game.

Fergal O’Donnell’s Roscommon side progressed to the semi-finals with an outstanding win against Kildare in Tullamore recently and there is much local interest in the team, with many of their young stars hailing from the South Roscommon region.

Included among the ten-strong South Roscommon contingent is the team captain, Ronan Daly, of Padraig Pearses and the promising Clann na nGael midfielder, Ultan Harney.
