Literary Event

5K Fun Run/Walk

Halloween Tea Party
As part of ongoing fundraising activities culminating in a number of marathons on the October bank holiday weekend its all systems go for Muireann’s Halloween Tea Party and Bake Sale in Drum Community Centre on Sunday next, October 20, from 2pm to 6pm. There will be lots of activities for all the family and entry is free. Donations of cakes, bakes and prizes would be very welcome and anyone interested or available to help out on the day should contact Marese Ward Shine on 090 6494131. This event is just one of many organised by a voluntary committee for the marathons four Muireann charities. A charity raising funds for the Jack and Jill foundation, Brothers of Charity and Temple Street Children’s Hospital.

Concert of Hope and Inspiration
A free Concert of Hope and Inspiration takes place at Ss Peter and Paul’s Church this Sunday, with donations for Marathons 4 Muireann welcome.
With some 100 performers on the night, including the Roscommon Summer Solstice Choir with guest performance by Baritone Darren O’Hara from Athlone and international concert pianist Lupa Alvar, it’s a night not to be missed.
The concert starts at 8pm, with doors open from 7pm. Admission is free but donations are welcome.

Cycle for Fun
A new Cycle for Fun group has begun in association with Roscommon Sports Partnership. Training every Sunday morning at 10am sharp from Clann na nGael club house, Johnstown. All ages and levels catered for.

Dancing for Pleasure
Takes place at Athlone GAA Centre every Sunday night from 9.30pm  to 12am. All welcome.

Clonown Variety Group
The Clonown Variety Show is set for Friday and Saturday, October 25 and 26 at 8pm in Clonown Community Centre.
The show includes comedy, song and dance. Tickets cost €10 per person or €25 for a family ticket.  Tickets are available from any committee member or from Jack (086 3559003) or Ann (087 2261096). A donation will be made to the Majella O’Donnell Cancer Appeal.

Fancy Dress Party
An important Fancy Dress Party to raise funds for local Cancer Support Services will take place at Millar’s Bar in Ballydangan, Athlone on Saturday night October 26. A number of other fundraising projects will be held in Moore parish on the same day. Your kind support would be appreciated.

A cookery demo with Neven Maguire and Artisan Food Market & Craft Fair takes place at the Athlone Springs Hotel on Thursday, November 28. Doors open 6pm. The evening starts with Artisan Food Market & Craft Fair. Cookery Demonstration at 7.45pm with Neven Maguire. Mulled wine will be served on arrival and there will be a raffle on the night. Christy Moorea
Music lovers are in for a treat this December when Christy Moore comes to the Radisson Blu Hotel Athlone.
Christy will be joined on stage by Martin O’Connor, Cathal Hayden, Seamie O’Dowd and Jimmy Higgins for the show on Saturday, December 7. Doors open at 7pm and show begins at 8pm.
Fans can expect to hear all the old favourites - Nancy Spain, Ride On, Lisdoonvarna and of course the current, and very topical, single 'Arthurs Day’.
