Argos announces plans to recruit staff for Christmas

High street retailer Argos this week announced plans to recruit 175 seasonal workers for stores across Ireland in the run up to the busy Christmas shopping season.

A spokesperson for the retailer confirmed to the Westmeath Independent that workers will be taken on at the company’s Athlone branch, but said specific seasonal staff numbers for the store are unavailable.
Those taken on at the company’s 40 stores nationwide will receive in-house training and will get a ten per cent staff discount to help with Christmas shopping as well as what the company describes as “competitive rates of pay”.
“As we approach our busiest shopping period of the year, we need extra support in our stores to ensure that we can deliver great service to the hundreds of thousands of customers who shop with us at this time,” Argos national operations manager Andy McClelland said. “We are looking for people who are customer focused, passionate and enthusiastic to join our teams.”
Contracts for the store roles are for part-time positions until the end of the Christmas period.
