Love in the air for athlone actress and fellow soap star

 

Athlone actress Leah Egan and Jack Nolan may be starring in rival Irish soaps – but that hasn’t stopped them from being a romantic item in real life.

Leah plays Louise Doyle in RTE’s Fair City while Adam stars as Michael Hennessy in TV3’s recently launched new soap Red Rock.

According to a story in The Irish Daily Star yesterday (Wednesday), the pair have been going out for almost a year but have kept their romance low-key.

“We thought we were doing really (at keeping it a secret). We were onto a pretty good run there and we were hoping that we would creep under the radar but obviously not,” Nolan told The Star.

Leah also starred in the role of Garda Alanna Ní Ruairc in Ros na Rún on TG4. A past pupil of Coosan NS and Our Lady’s Bower in Athlone, Leah studied Law and French in Trinity College Dublin, before embarking on an acting career.

Jack (25) said he has no interest in any talk of a ‘ratings war’ between the two programmes, saying that Leah was delighted when he landed the role in Red Rock.

“She was more excited than me! She was absolutely delighted for me and it’s nice that we are in the same industry. We are both employed and we are happy out just doing our thing,” said the Navan man.

“I really don’t care about ratings and that sort of thing. From an actor’s point of view, you can’t allow things like ratings play on your mind,” he added.
