Voice of Ireland judge Bressie has told local Operation Transformation leader Alan Mullen that he expects to be on the guest list if the Rosemount man returns to the stage with his band.

The 21-year-old  had previously quit his band due to self-consciousness about his appearance. “I suffered a lot from paranoia,” Alan shared on the RTE show. “If I got up on stage and had a bit of weight on me, and saw a couple of people smirking or laughing... you’d automatically think in your head, they’re laughing at me,” he explained. “I just stopped,” he said.

Bressie, who has battled depression and anxiety, offered Alan some advice on overcoming his fears when they met at a fundraising event.

“Music, it’s a horrible thing to take away from someone who is passionate about it,” said Bressie. He encouraged Alan to start playing again with his friends, without the pressure of public performance. “You don’t have to get on stage if you’re rehearsing with your mates,” Bressie explained.

Bressie did however tell Alan that he expected to be invited if the OT leader returned to the stage. “Book a gig, I’ll come to your first gig,” said Bressie. “You better not charge me in now, I better be on the guest list,” he joked.
