Roscommon prisoner absconds from open prison

A man in his thirties that served most his prison sentence in Roscommon, is the focus of a Garda search having absconded from an open prison yesterday afternoon.

John Paul Duncan, from Tallaght, Dublin, has been in custody since 2010 for possession of almost €3 million worth of drugs. With a release date in 2017, Duncan served the bulk of his sentence in Castlerea prison in Roscommon. He was transferred to Loughan House in Cavan on Tuesday.

The prisoner is believed to have escaped from there at about 2.30pm yesterday afternoon (Thursday).
