Ispca rescues three dogs in roscommon

Three dogs were recently seized from a property in Roscommon by ISPCA Inspector Karen Lyons. The dogs, a Beagle, a Pomeranian, and a Terrier cross breed, were all emaciated and living in poor conditions. It was clear on arrival that all three dogs required immediate veterinary attention to assess their body condition and determine if there were any underlying causes.

Enquiries revealed that, sadly, the original owner of the dogs had died. Investigations are ongoing to establish who might have been responsible for the dogs subsequent to the owner’s death, or if they had simply been forgotten.

ISPCA Inspector Karen Lyons said, “These dogs were extremely thin. In fact the Pomeranian weighed just over 2kg, which is only about half of what a dog of this size should normally weigh. We were so lucky to have gotten there in time to help these three.”

The dogs are now in the care of the ISPCA National Animal Centre in Longford where they are receiving the urgent veterinary care they require. Once they have gained sufficient weight and completed their treatments, we will be seeking loving homes for them.
