€750,000 funding for AIT

Fine Gael TD for Longford Westmeath, Gabrielle McFadden, has welcomed the allocation of €750,000 for Athlone Institute of Technology to carry out maintenance and development of facilities and equipment.

“I am delighted that Athlone IT is to receive €750,000 in funding as part of a nationwide Infrastructure Maintenance Fund Grant for Institutes of Technology, worth €10 million,” said Deputy McFadden.

She said that the funds can be used to discharge costs already incurred on a range of small-scale building works, refurbishment of existing facilities and/or upgrading equipment.

“Funding like this is crucial to keep Athlone IT well maintained and equipped so that it can provide a top class working environment for its students.

“Athlone IT is a hugely valuable resource in the Midlands, producing highly educated and skilled graduates to meet the employment demands created by our recovering economy,” she added.
