Candlelit walk of hope planned

A candlelit walk across the town bridge is planned for Tuesday to show support and solidarity for those who have lost loved ones to suicide.

Organised by the Hope Trust the walk ends at the Towncentre.

“We believe there are many who feel alone and disconnected after such a tragic event. Our hope is that they will know that they are not alone and that we would like to show that we care and that there is still hope in life,” the Hope Trust said.

The group will be meeting at Athlone Castle at 6pm on Tuesday next, October 31, and walking towards the Towncentre.

“Anyone who wants to share their support is welcomed to join us and to bring their candle with them. We are focussing on life and the importance of it. We will end with prayer for those who are bereaved and for those who are struggling to hold onto life,” the Hope Trust said.

Hope Trust is an Irish charity formed in 2006 to offer a Christian response to the issues surrounding suicide and poor mental health. If you want to know more about the charity you can attend an evening at the Athlone Springs Hotel on December 1 or visit www.hopetrust.ie
