Christy Dignam

Calling all Aslan fans to Athlone this Saturday!

Easons in Athlone is the place to be this Saturday afternoon for all Aslan fans, when charismatic lead singer, Christy Dignam, will be signing copies of his new memoir “My Crazy World.”

The book signing takes place at 3pm in the Easons outlet in Athlone Town Centre, and fans are asked to come along early to ensure they can get their copies of the Irish Times number one bestselling book signed by one of Ireland's greatest rock stars.

The memoir is a no holes barred account of the colourful and often troubled life of Christy Dignam, who reveals an extraordinary tale of excess and devotion to his music. As a youngster growing up in the north Dublin suburb of Finglas, there was only one thing Christy Dignam ever dreamed of doing – and that was singing!

By the early 1980's he had formed the band Aslan, whose first album went straight to the top of the Irish charts and showcased the incredibly popular song “This Is.” However, just as international success seemed assured, the lead singer had developed a heroin addiction which saw him being asked to leave the band.

Five years later, in 1993, Christy Dignam was back in Aslan again, leading them to a triumphant second coming, despite further struggles with drugs and an on-going battle with cancer.

“My Crazy World” is a compelling memoir which all Aslan fans (and there are many!) will want to get their hands on, so make sure to get down to Easons in Athlone at 3pm this Saturday, November 23, to meet the great man, Christy Dignam, in person.
