New Roscommon TD makes maiden speech on Dail's first day
Newly-elected Sinn Fein TD for Roscommon/Galway Claire Kerrane made her maiden speech today, as the 33rd Dail held its first sitting.
Kerrane seconded the nomination of her party president Mary Lou McDonald for Taoiseach.
Speaking this afternoon in the Dail, she noted that for the first time in the history of the State, there was no Fine Gael or Fianna Fail TD elected in Roscommon/Galway.
She said: “This message needs to be heard loud and clear. It can't go ignored.”
Stating that it was her intention to “work night and day for the benefit of my constituents” and alongside a strong team of 36 other Sinn Fein TDs, she said she strive to ensure the desire for change was reflected in the Dail and delivered upon.
“We need something new. We need Mary Lou McDonald,” the Tibohine native said.
