Here's the details for Penneys reopening in Athlone

Penneys in Golden Island Shopping Centre in Athlone will reopen tomorrow (Monday) at 10.30am.

The store is one of 20 located in shopping centres nationwide which are due to reopen on Monday following the reopening of 16 stores with street access on Friday.

The reopening of Penneys sparked a frenzy among shoppers in some areas, with large queues gathering from the early hours of Friday morning in Dublin ahead of the reopening.

The other stores to reopen on Monday are Mullingar, Longford, Galway Eyre Square, Galway SC, Liffey Valley, Blanchardstown, Dundrum, Santry, Artane, Nutgrove, Portlaoise, Navan, Castlebar, Ennis, Dooradoyle, Dundalk Marshes, Carlow, Wilton and Letterkenny

The company has announced new measures to protect customers and employees.

There will be limits on the number of customers allowed in store at any one time to allow for the appropriate distance in between customers and employees, following local government guidelines

The stores will have clear signage and floor decals, as well as dedicated employees and additional security staff, to guide customers through the store in a way that limits contact with others.

Every second till is closed to allow more space between customers and employees.

Hand sanitiser is available at the entrance and on the shop floor and back of house for employee and customer use. Face masks and gloves will be made available to employees if they wish to use them.

Perspex screens have been installed on tills to protect customers and employees

The frequency and rigour of store cleaning have both increased, particularly around high frequency touchpoints such as tills, escalators, lifts, and employee areas in back of house

Fitting rooms will be temporarily closed and customers will have 28 days to return an item if you change your mind.

Lifts are in operation however to maintain social distancing measures only two people will be permitted in the lift at any one time. Exceptions to this would be additional family members.

Face masks and gloves will be made available to employees if they wish to use them.

Customer toilets in stores will be closed until further notice.

A queuing system will be in place the store entrances to allow for social distancing with dedicated employees responsible for managing these queues.
