Three more COVID-19 related deaths

Three more people diagnosed with COVID-19 have died, while there are six more confirmed cases of the virus.

The number of COVID-19 related deaths now stands at 1,738, while the total number of confirmed cases is now 25,477.

Speaking this evening, chief medical officer Dr Tony Holohan once again advised against all non-essential travel abroad.

“The National Public Health Emergency Team will meet again tomorrow as it continues to monitor the spread of COVID-19 nationally and internationally, and review Ireland's response and preparedness to the disease," he said.

Deputy chief medical officer Dr Ronan Glynn, said: "In June, a total of 31 cases of COVID-19 in Ireland were associated with travel.

"The balance of keeping the disease suppressed in Ireland will continue to be challenging as society and business reopens."
