Date fixed for St Peter's v Castlerea title decider

The Roscommon & District Football League has announced fixtures for the long awaited return of the 2019/2020 season.

The Premier Division title decider between St Peter's and Castlerea Celtic has been pencilled in for Saturday evening, July 18.

The date for this fixture may come as a surprise to some observers as there had been speculation that Connacht Cup games or fixtures in other competitions would be played before the title showdown.

St Peter's have home advantage in the crunch game against Castlerea and the Athlone side must win to retain the title. A draw will be enough for the Castlerea men to clinch the league crown.

"Due to the tight window available to us, fixtures will be honoured or forfeited except for very extraordinary circumstances and upon application to the League committee," said RDFL Hon. Secretary Gerry Davis.

The Connacht Cup game between St Peter's and St Bernard's, with the Galway outfit at home, is now listed to take place on Sunday afternoon, July 26.

The RDFL has also provided guidelines aimed at reducing the risk of spreading the Covid-19 coronavirus.

All clubs without a railing or barrier around their pitch must have a cordon behind which supporters, substitutes and officials, except one team manager, must stay behind.

This cordon must be a minimum of three metres from the perimeter of the pitch to allow social distancing for match officials. Where there is no room for this cordon, or a cordon is not in place, no supporters (or substitutes etc) can be present whatsoever in that area. The onus to ensure this is adhered to will lie with the home club.

The RDFL has also reminded clubs that the FAI's return to play policies must be adhered to by all.

Meanwhile, the draw for round 3 of the RDFL Challenge Cup was recently held and is as follows below.
