Longford-Westmeath group starting series of free online wellbeing and recovery talks

Starting today, and continuing each Tuesday throughout the weeks ahead, a series of free online courses to help support mental wellbeing and recovery will be hosted by Longford Westmeath Recovery Education.

The empowerment series is an opportunity for people to meet local services and support organisations, find out what they do, and learn more about how to access their help or benefit from their service.

The first session kicks off at 2.30pm today (August 18) with Jason Dowling of the mental health organisation SHINE. Jason will discuss how SHINE supports people with mental health challenges, types of supports they offer, and free courses they provide.

Next Tuesday, August 25, Mental Health Ireland's Finola Colgan will facilitate a session on wellbeing and recovery. Participants will find out how they can benefit from the '5 Ways to Wellbeing programme', mental health information, and build on local connections.

On September 1, The Digital Hub's Patricia Reddin will provide participants with information about the free certified training funded by Longford Westmeath Educational Training Board.

The following Tuesday, September 8, Maureen Murtagh, adult education coordinator of the Women's Community Projects, Mullingar, will provide insight into opportunities on a wide range of certified training, hobby courses, learner supports and activities in their services.

Other weekly sessions planned are planned involving: MABS (Money, Advice, Budgeting and Service), GROW Ireland, Recovery Self-Help Training Method, LWL (Longford Women’s Link), Employability Midlands services, the housing section of Westmeath County Council, Pieta House Midlands, and more.

The events will each be about an hour in duration. They are free of charge and open to everyone.
