A Roscommon village shop has sold a €500,000 EuroMillions Plus winning ticket

The 200 residents of Ballyfarnon village in north Roscommon have today been urged to check their EuroMillions tickets after the National Lottery confirmed the village as the winning location for Tuesday night’s €500,000 EuroMillions Plus top prize win. This is the 22nd time this year that the EuroMillions Plus top prize of €500,000 has been won in Ireland.

The winning Quick Pick ticket was sold at Healy’s Xpress Stop service station in Ballyfarnon village which is situated close to the border of Co. Sligo.

Interestingly, the lucky lottery slip which is now worth a half million euro was printed as a ‘White Ticket’ through the Payzone network in the store. Traditionally, National Lottery tickets are printed on the recognisable green slips but these new white National Lottery tickets are also produced on the National Lottery’s Central Gaming System and are as equally valid as traditional National Lottery tickets.

Healy’s service station has been a family run business since 2002 and is operated by Frank and Anne Healy and their son, Mark.

Mark Healy discussed how news of the win has spread throughout the tiny village as residents hope that one of their own has won the life-changing prize.

He said: “It’s absolutely incredible, we still cannot believe it! I got the call from the National Lottery late last night and it still feels like a dream! Ballyfarnon is quite a small village so knowing that one of our neighbours could be a half a million richer is just fantastic. We are situated in a rural area in Co. Roscommon so we would have a lot of local customers who rely on our shop and filling station for their day to day essentials. We certainly hope it’s a local winner. This really is a huge win for the town as €500,000 would mean a great deal to somebody living in rural Ireland. We are absolutely over the moon for the winner we hope that they enjoy this life-altering win,” he said.

The winning numbers of the main EuroMillions draw were: 04, 21, 36, 41, 47and the Lucky Stars were 09 and 11.

The winning numbers from last night’s EuroMillions Plus draw are: 05, 29, 35, 40, 50.

A spokesperson for the National Lottery said: “With so many prize winners in last night’s EuroMillions draw, we are asking all of our players to check their tickets very carefully. If you are the winner of any of the big prizes, please contact our prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie and we will make arrangements for you to collect your prize.”
