Five route corridor options for new Tullamore to Kilbeggan Road
Five route corridor options have been identified for the proposed new N52 Tullamore Kilbeggan Link Road.
A public consultation process on the five route options is now underway and will continue until December 11.
One of the route corridors runs along the route of the existing road. All of the other four route corridors are predominately located to the east of the existing route but connect with the existing route for varying distances near the endpoints at Tullamore and Kilbeggan.
Offaly County Council, in partnership with Westmeath County Council and in association with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), invites residents of the local area, members of the public and interested parties to participate in this latest public consultation phase.
The councils say that the delivery of the project is a priority as the current road operates above capacity, carrying over 14,000 vehicles per day.
“Safety is compromised by a narrow hard shoulder and many at grade junctions and private access points,” the council says.
The overall aim of the proposed new scheme is to improve connectivity within the Midlands and address existing operational and safety issues,
A brochure is being posted to all households within the study area, which includes a map of the Route Corridor Options and a questionnaire to provide you with an opportunity to submit your views at this stage of the design process. People can also view the project online at www.n52tullamoretokilbeggan.ie
