Shane Curran to come under spotlight in new Laochra Gael documentary on TG4

The career of one of the Midlands' most flamboyant sporting characters will be explored in a new episode of the 'Laochra Gael' documentary series on TG4 in the new year.

Shane Curran, the former Roscommon, St Brigid's and Athlone Town goalkeeper, will be profiled in one of the six episodes of the new series, which starts on January 7.

Frankie Dolan and the Hollywood actor and Boyle native Chris O'Dowd were among those who shared their perspectives on Curran's career in the film.

Curran also reflects on his 2013 All Ireland club championship success with St Brigid's in the documentary, saying, "When that whistle went, for the end of that match... that's the moment in time that you've been waiting for."

The Castlerea native, who has taken charge of Padraig Pearses and the Roscommon Under-20s in recent years, was recently appointed as the Caulry football manager for the 2021 season.

The new series of Laochra Gael will also include episodes profiling Kevin Cassidy, Ryan O'Dwyer, Thérèse Maher, Johnny Pilkington, and Dermot Earley.
