Emma Donohue and Tilly Dawson Stanley

Local duo face Glór Tire wait after semi-final postponed

There was deep disappointment for local country music singers, Tilly Dawson Stanley from Glasson and Emma Donohue from Killoran, outside Ballinasloe, at the news that the final two episodes of popular TG4 talent show, Glór Tire, have been postponed due to a Covid-19 incident.

Both Tilly and Emma were due to take part in the semi-finals of the competition tomorrow night (Tuesday) at 9.30pm, but in a statement released by TG4 today (Tuesday) the organisers say the show has been “temporarily postponed until further notice” on the advice of the HSE ”due to a Covid-19 incident.”

The current season, which began in January, saw six hopefuls bidding for the grand prize of Glor Tire winner, with the two local singers making it through to the semi-finals of the competition.

Emma Donohue is being mentored in the series by fellow Galway native, Mike Denver, while Tilly Dawson Stanley is being mentored by Tyrone singer, Cliona Hagan. The remaining semi-finalists are Mary Hoey from Cullyhana, Armagh (mentor The Sheerin Family) and David Connor from Claremorris, county Mayo (mentor Michael English).

Voting has been suspended but all votes that have been cast to date will be valid once the competition recommences.

Glór Tíre is currently in its seventeenth season and is presented by Aoife Ni Thuairisg and Seamús Ó Scanláin, with help from the judges John Creedon, Caitríona Ní Shúilleabháin and Jó Ní Chéide who advise and guide the contestants.
